Tom and Verania, a Belgian-Indonesian couple, welcome you in De Plataan, a renovated house in one of the most famous and quiet streets of the centre. De Plataan lies next to the old canal the Coupure and offers a beautiful view on Ghent's oldest trees. In the 18th centuries the Ghent nobility use to parade on Sunday afternoon under the plane trees; today students come relax here between two examinations. De Plataan is an excellent backdrop for a splendid walk to the touristic attractions of Ghent. Our guest chamber is on the ground floor and looks out on a big garden full of domestic plants and fragrant roses. On sunny days you can idle and read there for hours. The chamber accommodates a small guest library measured on our guests, with books concerning Ghent, Belgian art and a selection Flemish literature in translation (French, English, German, etc.). In the room there is also coffee and tea and a free wifi-connection. Our house is an ideal starting poi nt for bicycle excursions around Ghent.
P.S. De Plataan is not so well-equipped for disabled people: the toilet is on the first and the bathroom on the second floor.
